One of My Coworkers is Not Showing Up on Catalyst

by | Apr 14, 2022 | Catalyst | 0 comments

One of the best parts of Catalyst (and some say it is the best part) is the Your colleagues section. This feature allows you to “see” all of your coworkers that have completed the Everything DiSC on Catalyst assessment. You can learn about their style and get tips on interacting with them more effectively.

If your own data is missing, see the article Help! My DiSC Catalyst Results are Missing!

But Someone is Missing!

But for some reason, you can’t seem to find one of your coworkers on Catalyst.

You are sure they took the assessment. Perhaps they were in a workshop with you or you recall discussing your styles with each other. But when you go to the Your colleagues section of Catalyst, sure enough, they are not there.

For Admins: Check their Organization

It’s an obvious one, but a person won’t show up if they are assigned to a different organization than everyone else. If you are an EPIC Account admin, use the Edit Existing Records function to find their record. Verify that the Organization assigned to them matches everyone else. If it’s wrong, change it and that should fix the issue. Unless they have changed their privacy settings (see below).

The Most Likely Culprit: Privacy Settings

If the Catalyst Organization is set correctly, it is most likely a privacy settings issue. In each account’s profile settings, there is a Privacy tab. It has exactly one setting: Share with colleagues, which can be turned on or off.

This setting is on by default, but if a user has gone in and disabled this feature, they will no longer be visible to anyone else in the same Catalyst Organization. Likewise, though, they will not be able to see style information for anyone else either.

Note: This setting cannot be seen (or changed, obviously) by the EPIC Administrator.

Other Possibilities

There are two other, far less likely conditions that could explain why a coworker might not appear in the Your colleagues section of Catalyst. First, the person’s record  could have been deleted altogether (usually by request of the person for privacy reasons). Second, there could be some system anomaly. These are computer systems, after all (however, we have never had this be the case, so while possible, it is very unlikely).
